ÒI COULD DECIPHER IT
ONLY IN PART LIKE THE EARLY CARTOGRAPHERSÓ
The most disconcerting part is that life goes
on somehow
or other and that the rest must be set aside
for tomorrow
when time allows that you never get to. It
dates from
about five weeks ago. One of them is reported
to have
observed that those in whom we invest our
hopes only ever
make their appearance when they are no longer
needed.
It has made them think about how they both
grew up
and now it is about five weeks ago when they
started to
see all the maps as blurred, the countries as
garishly pink,
and trade routes marked by lines random and
inconclusive.
In muddy waters apt to breed Duckweed
a resemblance hereof there is
and
some resemblance there
is of this order
neatly declaring order in all things
a like correspondence
you
are you know muddying the waters just by the way you—
and
over and over again
breeding
its accumulating Artifice
And if the pot were turned
the leaves would work themselves into their
former declinations,
leaving
by leaving,
turn and precisely tell us
as who wouldnÕt in a matter of days
find
oneself elsewhere,
moving
east to get west
the obtuse but seldom found, there located, what
question was it to which
only
position answered.
